3 steps to set up your free Cloudflare proxy:
① Create a Worker
Go to dash.cloudflare.com → Workers & Pages → Create Worker
② Paste this code
③ Add your API key as a secret
In Settings → Variables & Secrets, add GEMINI_API_KEY with your Google key. Deploy!
Your API key stays hidden in the Worker. The browser never sees it. 100k requests/day free on Cloudflare's free tier.
⚠️ Security warning — Dev/test mode only
Your API key will be visible in browser DevTools (Network tab) on every request. Never use this mode on a shared or public computer. Also requires HTTPS deployment (GitHub Pages, Netlify…) — does not work when opening the file directly (file://).
Recommended: use Cloudflare Worker mode — your key stays hidden on the server, never exposed to the browser.
